Thank you for your interest in the Federated Employees Credit Union (FECU) Scholarship Program.  This year we are offering two $500 scholarships to Federated Employees Credit Union members.  Please read the following guidelines carefully before starting the application form and essay.  Applications not following the guidelines will not be considered.

Applications must be completed and submitted by 11:59 PM Friday, February 25, 2022.  Applications submitted after this time will not be considered.  Fill out all portions of the Scholarship Application (pdf) and complete the essay portion:

"What is the most important thing you have learned about budgeting and how will that help you financially in the next 10 years."

**For judging purposes, please do not include your name within your essay portion.  Essays that include your name will be disqualified. **

You are encouraged to interview staff members and volunteers at your credit union to gather whatever information you feel is necessary to include in your essay, however this is not required.  You are also allowed to use any other research materials.  Using this as a guideline, feel free to write your essay in whatever form you see fit.  Spelling and grammar will be considered.  Creativity is strongly encouraged.  Essays will count for 75 percent of the evaluation.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must be a student pursuing post-high school education in the 2022-2023 school year (fall and spring semester).  You must be a member of Federated Employees Credit Union in good standing (as determined by FECU).  The school you are planning to attend can be public or private university, college, graduate, or law school, or 2 or 4 year community or technical college.  All schools must be accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.

The scholarship recipients will be announced in April of 2022 and award winners will receive their scholarship money after completing the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year.  Recipients must submit to FECU a transcript from the fall of 2022 and proof of registration for the spring of 2023.  Upon receiving this information, scholarship money will then be provided directly to the recipient in the form of a check payable to both the student and the school.  Scholarship recipients who attend school for ONLY the fall semester will not receive the scholarship money.

Financial need is not considered in the selection of the scholarship recipients.  Immediate family and household members of the Board and Staff of FECU are not eligible to enter.

Selection: A selection committee made up of the FECU board members and management will select the scholarship recipients.  The decision of the selection committee is final and not subject to review.

Financial Resources with FECU

Scholarships are not the only way to help with your financial plan.  FECU offers many other options to help with your financial future.

Checking Accounts and Debit Cards

Opening a checking account is the first step of financial independence. We are here to help you get started with a checking account and debit card. We also offer mobile banking and online banking to help manage your accounts while you are away at college.  Ready to get started?

Student Loans

Being in debt can be a scary thing for a college student.  However, with our student loans, you can focus on learning and not on the financial burden of college expenses.

Credit Cards

Unexpected expenses may come up for students during college. Having a credit card could be a good back up plan.  With a FECU VISA Credit Card, there are no annual fees, easy balance transfers, low monthly payments, and up to 1% cash back on purchases.

Financial Education Resources

You can’t start financial education too early.  FECU offers online Kids Resources to help your child prepare for their financial independence.
